Personality:
Alastor maintains the behavior, mannerisms, and even the Transatlantic accent of a 1930's-era radio host despite having been dead and in Hell for almost 90 years. As a result, he uses old-fashioned terms like "picture show" to refer to television programming. Some might even consider him somewhat technophobic due to his disdain for technology invented after the 1930's.
The Hell of his universe is rather crass, but Alastor tends to speak and act politely, saving course language for when he's alone and can't be overheard. He's also always smiling, but it's not an expression meant to put others at ease: Alastor sees smiling as a sign of power and dominance. Any enemies that frown in his presence he sees as inherently weak.
Alastor can be incredibly narcissistic, seeing himself as above most others (perhaps not entirely without justification given how most of Hell flees or cowers in his presence), but he is fully aware that there are rivals out there who could hurt him if he let his guard down. When around someone who has the potential to harm him, he will be wary but never stop smiling.
He's secretive with his powers, enjoying being unpredictable. He might even claim an inability to do something to either (A) reveal later on as a surprise that he could do something or (B) allow himself the opportunity to watch others struggle.
He's also quite sadistic, one obvious example being his offer of aid to Charlie's Happy Hotel: He doesn't believe redemption is possible, finding the very idea hilarious, but he genuinely wants to help Charlie so he can have the satisfaction of watching others try and fail miserably.
Most notably about Alastor is that he possesses a moral compass...albeit an incredibly warped one. For example, he overheard a butcher whose shop he'd just left attacking a much weaker lamb demon Alastor had held the door for. Rather than walking away, he re-entered the shop, slaughtered the butcher, and took some of his meat to consume. The butcher's intended victim was left alive if traumatized. Some of his known rules are that he doesn't follow or chase his victims and that those of "fairer means" shouldn't be taken advantage of.
He's also a bit hypocritical when it comes to touch. He'll touch others freely, even pulling them into impromptu side-hugs when he feels like it, but he personally dislikes being touched. All physical contact needs to be initiated by him.
One thing Alastor craves is entertainment. He's been stuck in Hell for 90 years and it's gotten stale. He's been itching for new experiences, and Reverein seems like it's all that and more.

Suitability & Plans:
Redemption is (obviously) a huge theme in Hazbin Hotel. Alastor himself doesn't believe it's possible, and it's unlikely that Charlie's rather idealistic means of redeeming sinners would actually work on Alastor. While he wouldn't become a fully-redeemed sinner in Reverein, his time there could help curb his more evil tendencies. Not to mention that there is the possibility that Alastor's time in Hell may have driven him slightly mad, making it difficult to interact with others when he used to blend in so easily while alive.
Of course, it doesn't help that Alastor is a social person who's isolated by others' fear of him. Alastor is used to having people either run in terror or slam the door in his face before he can even finish saying the word "hello". He won't say as much out loud, but he's lonely. Having companionship in Reverein could further help his reformation.
One plan I have for Alastor is that his moral code will prompt him to defend others who can't defend themselves like the incident in the butcher shop did in the prequel comic. This could lead to him clashing with the noctaere on a semi-regular basis. Given he's used to the nightmare that is Hell and his own eternal torments, he's able to face down others' nightmares more easily. It would make him somewhat of a guardian though he'll never proclaim himself to be one. If anything, it's more likely he'd claim that he just wanted to watch the other suffer until it got boring.

- Default Form
- Alastor possesses a default demonic form of a man with cervine traits.
- Bilingualism
- Fluent in English and able to speak broken Creole.
- Cooking
- He was taught to cook by his mother and is incredibly good at it, specializing in classic New Orleans and creole food.
- Flexibility
- Can twist himself into unnatural positions without hurting his joints, even turning his head a full 180-degrees.
- High Intelligence
- Alastor is incredibly cunning, strategizing and thinking carefully before executing a plan. He became one of the most powerful Overlords in Hell via tricks and deal-making.
- Demonic Magic
- Able to cast spells. Currently limited only to those spells that anyone can cast in Reverein.
- Shadow Manipulation
- Able to summon shadows and have them do his bidding. Limited to only his personal shadow.
- Shadow Teleportation
- Alastor is able to teleport to his shadow's position. Limited to only when he can see his shadow.
- Voodoo Magic
- Knowledge of Louisiana Voodoo and rootwork. Spells are limited to what anyone can learn in Reverein that would potentially rely on rootwork.
- Microphone Stand
- Alastor is able to summon a microphone stand which he can use as both a microphone and a cane. It's an extension of himself and will periodically talk.
- Photokinesis
- Can project red light from his eyes and microphone.
- Outfit Alteration
- Can change outfits with the snap of his finger. Limited to only himself and he has to possess the clothing to begin with along with being close by. He can't just conjure clothes out of thin air.
- Eldritch Control
- Red floating symbols will sometimes float around him using his abilities. They don't do anything, just add to the spook factor.
- Audio Projection
- Alastor can project music and sound effects at will. Pretty much useless except for his own amusement.
Noctaere Abilities Only
Only usable when he's been turned into a noctaere.
- Full Demon Form
- Alastor transforms into a far stronger full demon form. This boosts his normal abilities and those he can use via dreamotion energy.
- Eldritch Summoning
- Noctaere Alastor can summon two black eldritch tentacles to fight alongside him once per battle.
Dreamotion Abilities
These abilities are for when he's gotten a handle on using dreamotion energy.
- Advanced Shadow Manipulation
- Alastor is able to summon shadows other than his own to do his bidding.
- Advanced Shadow Teleportation
- Alastor doesn't need to see his shadow to teleport to its location as long as he's within a one hundred-foot radius of it.
- Pyrokinesis
- Can summon palm-sized balls of flame.
Locked Abilities
- Broadcasting
- Alastor is able to control and broadcast over the radio waves. Locked due to there being no radios in Reverein.
- Deal With The Devil
- Alastor is able to make deals which are enforced by magic, including taking another's soul as payment. Locked because it's OP.
- Reality Manipulation
- Alastor can distort reality at will. Locked because it's OP.
- Wilting Plants
- Plants wilt at Alastor's touch. Locked because then he'd have nowhere to live in Reverein.
- Portal Creation
- Can create portals for others to travel through. Locked because it's OP.
- Manifestation
- Can summon others to his side and make objects appear at will. Locked because it's OP.
